Button Magnets

*Make personalized magnets to mount children’s artwork on a stainless steel refrigerator. 

Materials

Assorted old or new buttons  .75 inch  (19.05 mm)  or larger

Ceramic disc magnets, (also called button magnets)  .75 inch  (19.05 mm) 

Tacky glue

Thread or embroidery floss for buttons with holes

Wire cutters for buttons with a shank

Heavy plastic shower curtain liner to cover table

*Select buttons from your button box or purchase new buttons.

*Other options for magnets: small earring, fabric yoyo, tiny toy, beads, or large pompom

  1. Cover workspace with shower curtain liner.
  2. For buttons with a shank, use wire cutters to clip shank off.
  3. Apply glue to back of button and place on magnet. Dry thoroughly.
  4. For buttons with holes, pass thread or embroidery floss through holes and knot
    thread on back. Apply glue on back of button and place on magnet to dry.
